CLERMONT (Aug. 15, 2023) – The city of Clermont has announced the commencement of the application process for its upcoming Fall 2023 session of the Clermont Citizens Academy (CCA). This unique opportunity is extended to Clermont residents who are keen on delving into the inner workings of their city and gaining a comprehensive understanding of its various departments and services.
The Clermont Citizens Academy (CCA) is a 7-week, free-of-charge civics education program designed to offer participants an in-depth exploration of the city’s operational aspects. It aims to provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the mechanisms that enable Clermont to efficiently deliver essential services to its residents.
Throughout the duration of the program, attendees will engage with directors and staff from different city departments, each week focusing on a featured department. These sessions will encompass explanations of the department’s responsibilities, the intricacies of their daily operations, and strategies employed to tackle challenges. Participants will be encouraged to actively participate, ask questions, and will also have the opportunity to partake in tours and demonstrations conducted by the departments.
The CCA has a historical track record of enthusiastic engagement from Clermont’s residents. For many, this program serves as a stepping stone towards a deeper involvement in local governance. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess confirmed Clermont residency, and commit to attending a minimum of six out of the seven weekly classes. A cap of 25 participants has been set to ensure an optimal learning experience, with any additional applications being placed on a waiting list.
The program is scheduled to run on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., commencing on September 14. The academy will culminate in a graduation celebration on October 26, where participants will have the opportunity to celebrate their newly acquired insights.
