Clermont Youth Council Gets an Inside Look at Law Enforcement

Participants of the Clermont Youth Council recently visited the Clermont Police Department for an inside look at Law Enforcement in Clermont today. The council is comprised of ten students from the area High Schools, South Lake High School, Lake Minneola High School and East Ridge High School.

Their Police Department visit allowed these future leaders of tomorrow to connect with the leaders of the Clermont Police Department and get an up-close and personal look at the inner workings of the Clermont Police Department. Participants were able to see the latest in Crime Scene Investigation and Forensics equipment used by the Clermont Police Department. Additionally, they received a VIP tour of the Clermont Police Headquarters that included static displays of the various specialized units of the department. The visit wrapped up with the participants having the opportunity to use the scenario based training simulator.

The Youth Council will be meeting for six months and get an up-close look at the different departments within the City of Clermont. At the end of the six months, the Youth Council will collaborate to create a project that they feel will benefit the Clermont Community, and present it to Clermont City Council. Once approved, the teens will implement the project with the support of city staff.

We want to wish the participants the best of luck in their upcoming project and we greatly appreciate their desire to help the Clermont community.
