Man Arrested for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle Among Other Charges


CLERMONT (November 9, 2018) – At approximately 7:45 am this morning, Officers with the Clermont Police Department responded to the Circle K convenience store located at 16431 East State Road 50 in Clermont reference to a stolen vehicle.  The victim advised Clermont Police Officers that he left his vehicle running in the parking lot while he went into the store. While the victim was in the store, Jason Tyler McLamb, (DOB 11/20/1993) –  entered the vehicle and drove away. While Officers were on scene meeting with the victim, the vehicle was seen traveling westbound on State Road 50 by another Clermont Officer.  When our Officer turned around to attempt to conduct a traffic stop, Arrestee Mc Lamb immediately fled at a high rate of speed.  Fortunately, our officer was able to positively identify the subject driving the stolen car and provided a partial clothing description and direction of travel of the stolen vehicle.

At approximately 8:22 am the vehicle was located abandoned by Deputies of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in the Minneola Area.  Deputies waited for Arrestee Mc Lamb and another individual to return to the vehicle. Upon his return, the Deputies made contact with him.  Clermont Police Officers responded to the scene to interview McLamb, and he advised that he had stolen the vehicle as well as having fled from Clermont Officers.

McLamb is now in the custody of the Lake County Jail, with the charges of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Flee and Attempt to Elude, Driving while License Suspended (with Knowledge) Reckless Driving, as well as other moving citations.
