LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – In a recent development, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office has filed charges against James William Wolfe, 50, in connection with alleged incidents of lewd and lascivious touching involving a minor. The charges are based on an extensive investigation conducted by Corporal Detective A. Jarrell.
The investigation stemmed from allegations received from the Department of Children and Families (DCF), which prompted Corporal Jarrell to delve into the matter. On August 18, 2023, Corporal Jarrell conducted an interview with James Wolfe. During the interview, Wolfe confessed to touching a minor inappropriately. Though he initially couldn’t recall the minor’s name, he provided information about her parents.
The confession indicated that Wolfe had gone to the victim’s residence and committed sexual acts against the victim. Interviews with DCF had taken place prior to the investigation into the sexual allegations that eventually led to Wolfe’s arrest on sexual battery-related charges.
The investigation into these allegations culminated in multiple charges against Wolfe. He was charged with lewd and lascivious touching of a minor under the age of 16.
Given the nature of the allegations and the existing charges, it has been has requested that no bond be granted for Wolfe. However, if the court decides to consider bond, the request is for Wolfe to wear an electronic monitoring device with GPS tracking and be restricted from leaving Lake County. The request also includes provisions for no contact with the victim, no contact with minors, and avoidance of locations related to the victim’s residence or employment.
