Numerous South Lake County schools and organizations have banded together again for the annual Kindness Palooza charity event. This year, Kindness Palooza’s theme will be the Jedi Warrior Challenge. The public is invited to this free event with a donation to one of our three supported charities. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 4 in the field next to the Sky Zone, 2510 S. U.S. Highway 27.
The purpose of this year’s Kindness Palooza is to raise money for three local charities: The Clermont Community Champions Foundation, Dreamplex and Project Kid Connect. The Clermont Community Champions Foundation, founded and operated by Clermont Police Department officers, provides critical resources to the community during calls for service. Dreamplex is an organization dedicated to serving children with special needs in their athletic endeavors. Project Kid Connect, hosted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, focuses on providing the less fortunate students in our community with school supplies and other necessities. By attending this field day event you will contribute greatly to the local charity of your choice!
“All it takes is one small act of kindness to create a ripple, and that one ripple creates waves in a movement.” – Emily Curatolo
“Kindness Palooza is the epitome of what happens when one act of kindness becomes minutes, then moments, then a movement.” – Emily Curatolo
This will be an event full of fun, food and friends, as well as an amazing experience for the whole family. Activities include inflatable obstacle courses, slides, a hula hoop, an Easter egg relay, inflatable sports games, and ring toss. Along with these well-known games, there are some unique activities that you can participate in such as the four-legged race, scooter-plunger races, a noodle horse race and a buried treasure hunt. We also have many events for you to watch, such as the singing of the National Anthem by U.S. Rep. Ross Spano and the Empire and Rebel Parade. Also, you can witness multiple demonstrations including yoga and Taekwondo, gaining new knowledge.
At the end of the event, there will be a final challenge where three representatives from each of the three charities will have a Jedi Warrior competition within Sky Zone. This gives them the opportunity to win a ‘jackpot’ of proceeds for their charity, in addition to the money earned from entrance donations. “I am excited to see the Jedi Warrior Competition, I can only imagine how competitive everyone will be with such a huge reward.” – Jacqueline Ohlrich
Along with these entertaining events and activities, it is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax while viewing the event; though coolers and animals such as dogs are not allowed at Kindness Palooza. However, themed costumes are highly encouraged, as well as dressing in colors associated with your organization. You can wear blue for the Clermont Police Department, orange for Dreamplex or green for Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
“Kindness Paloooza is a contagious movement that encourages people to step up to the plate and show a sincere concern and consideration for others.” – Chief Charles Broadway Clermont Police Department
Kindness Palooza started in 2018 through East Ridge High School’s National Honor Society as a way to encourage kindness throughout hard times. The tradition continues this year. Come and see the community youth unite for a community cause with Kindness Palooza’s Jedi Warrior Challenge!
May the 4th be with you!
