Lake County is Holding a Workshop on Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to freshen up and declutter your home! The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County will present the “De-Clutter Your Life Workshop,” being held from 9 a.m. – noon on Wednesday, April 24 at the Extension Office, located 1951 Woodlea Rd in Tavares.

According to the National Soap and Detergent Association, getting rid of clutter can eliminate 40 percent of housework in an average home. A cluttered home can also be a dangerous home, research from the Centers for Disease Control shows that one out of three adults age 65 and over fall each year. Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries.

The workshop will be delivered in three parts; the first part will teach attendees how to organize documents by learning what to keep and what to toss. The second part will focus on how to let go and clear the clutter, and the last session will focus on how to sort through family heirlooms and organize the items that are most important.
