Lake County has accepted the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning on Oct. 1, 2019.
The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the organization must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Lake County was assessed on how well the County’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated as “proficient” in all four categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
In addition to the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award presented to the County, the Office of Management and Budget has also received a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation.
The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development resources, and practical research for more than 20,500 members and the communities they serve.
