Lane Davis set out to inspire his fellow students after realizing a lack of motivation in his school. As a State Officer in SkillsUSA, a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce, he ran a three-day leadership workshop that taught many students the skills needed for success beyond high school. He also raised supplies for a nonprofit during the workshop while enticing other students to do their own community service projects.
Lane is among three other local high school students in Orlando who were selected as 2019 Bank of America Student Leaders.
Selection for this prestigious internship is due to the work each of them have done for their community. As Student Leaders, they’ll be attending a leadership summit in Washington D.C. with 300 fellow students from around the country in July, to meet with members of Congress and will also work closely with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida this summer, to improve the lives of many people in the community who are in need.
The other students selected include Feba Mathew from Orlando, Cyrus Newquist from Orlando, and Sean McCabe from Orlando.
