Lake County to suspend waste collection and close Farmers Market due to Tropical Storm Eta

Unincorporated Lake County will not collect garbage or recycling on Thursday, Nov. 12 due to the County’s waste disposal site, Heart of Florida Landfill in Sumter County, closing because of safety concerns from Tropical Storm Eta. The collection schedule will shift by one day, with Thursday collection taking place on Friday, and Friday collection on Saturday, weather and conditions permitting. Lake County’s Central Landfill Facility will be open on Thursday as well as the Pine Lakes Convenience Center. For additional information, please contact the Lake County Solid Waste Division at 352-343-3776 or garbagecollection@lakecountyfl.gov.

The Thursday morning Farmers Market at the Lake County Fairgrounds will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 12 due to anticipated unfavorable weather from Tropical Storm Eta.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has postponed the Animal Enforcement Hearings scheduled for Nov. 12. The hearings will be rescheduled for a later date.

COVID-19 testing at the Lake County Department of Health in Clermont, located at 560 W. DeSoto St., will also be closed on Thursday, Nov. 12, and will reopen on Friday, Nov. 13, weather permitting.
