Montverde Academy’s Theatre Department is proud to present “Medea,” based on Euripides’s best-known play, as its main production in December. This memorable theatrical presentation will feature the Academy’s award-winning student performers who bring these well-known characters to life on a phenomenal set with amazing costumes that will stun audiences.
This Ancient Greek tragedy, based upon the myth of Jason and Medea, was originally produced in 431 B.C. Medea, a former princess of the kingdom Colchis, vows revenge on her husband, who has deserted her for a Greek princess. Using her magic, she exacts vengeance on Jason by murdering his new wife and her own children, escaping to Athens to live her days in grief. Medea is considered to be one of the greatest plays in Europe. This story uses impressive storytelling as well as amazing performances by the students to create a phenomenal story.
