Lake County Tourism to Host Capital Projects Funding Grant Learning Session

The Lake County Agency for Economic Prosperity will host an application learning session for the Lake County Tourist Development Capital Projects Funding Program at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Economic Prosperity’s Visit Lake Office, located at 20763 U.S. Highway 27, Groveland.

 

The program, funded through Lake County’s Tourist Development Tax, allows organizations with publicly owned and operated capital projects to apply for funds that will enhance Lake County as a tourist destination and bring a substantial number of visitors to the county. Non-profit organizations may be eligible for funding of museum projects that are open to the public.

The due date for applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 with the first preliminary hearing scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday, April 6 and the second hearing set for 3 p.m. on Monday, April 20. Both hearings will take place inside the board chambers at the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St., Tavares.

The Tourist Development Capital Projects Funding Program was created to process requests for tourist development tax funds to be used for capital projects. The program works in tandem with Lake County’s Tourist Development Tax which funds the promotion of tourism and attracts tourists to visit Lake County. The Lake County Tourist Development Council was established to recommend to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, uses of the Tourist Development Tax revenue in accordance with the Lake County Tourist Development Plan.
