Lake County Transit Offers Free Bus Rides and More During Mobility Week


Lake County is partnering with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to celebrate Mobility Week Oct. 30 through Nov. 6. To help bring awareness to safe, multimodal transportation choices, LakeXpress, the county’s fixed-route public transportation service, is hosting the following free events during Mobility Week 2020:

  • Monday, Nov. 2 – FDOT’s Virtual Room will provide rider and safety information about LakeXpress. Visit the virtual room at any time during Mobility Week at
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3 – “Try Transit Day” will offer free fixed-route rides all day on LakeXpress buses.
  • Customer Appreciation Days feature free giveaways at transfer centers from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.:

o   Wednesday, Nov. 4 – FDOT Park and Ride Transfer Center, Clermont

o   Thursday, Nov. 5 – Ardice Transfer Center, Eustis


o   Friday, Nov. 6 – Citizens Boulevard Transfer Center, Leesburg

“We’re excited for this year’s Mobility Week, and we encourage Lake County residents to take advantage of this year’s Mobility Week virtual activities, as well as the opportunity to try a different mode of transportation by riding LakeXpress for free on ‘Try Transit Day,’” said Jill Brown, Office of Transit Services Director.

In response to COVID-19, ongoing efforts to keep passengers safe include an enhanced cleaning schedule for buses and bus stops, the installation of HEPA 2 air purification systems, driver barriers on each LakeXpress bus, CDC guidance signage and the distribution of cloth face coverings through community outreach events.
