Local Church to Open as Cold Weather Shelter

With temperatures expected to drop this evening, Trinity Assembly of God in Fruitland Park is opening its doors to those vulnerable to the cold weather.

 

Trinity Assembly of God, 200 Urick St., Fruitland Park will open for sheltering on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 a.m.

Lake County Transit will offer assistance to those needing transport to the shelter, with two pick-up locations in Leesburg and one pick-up location in Eustis.

  • Leesburg: 5thStreet and Main Street, at 5 p.m.
  • Leesburg: Come As You Are Ministry, located at 105 Sunshine Ave., between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
  • Eustis: The Open Door, located at 115 Citrus Ave., at 5 p.m.

Individuals who are unable to meet at the designated pick-up locations may travel by a Lake Xpress fixed route transport bus for free if the rider indicates to the driver that they are traveling to the cold weather shelter. Individuals who require transportation from the shelter on Thursday morning will be taken to either the Salvation Army, Come As You Are Ministry or The Open Door.
